Grant’s undergraduate study in finance and investments was at Valparaiso University, where he graduated in 1987. Grant received his MBA in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Denver in 1989. Grant went on to receive his law degree from DePaul University in 1996.

Grant worked for MidAmerica Bank in Naperville, IL from 1989 through 1999. Grant left his position at MidAmerica Bank in 1999 to devote his full attention to Steamboat Investment Advisors. In addition to Steamboat Investments, he has taught investment classes at a local college and serves on various boards within the community. He currently resides in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company.

Grant’s banking and educational background give him the unique ability to see around many issues and ask the tough and thoughtful questions. His lending experience also brings significant experience in understanding a company’s underlying fundamentals. Grant’s ability to focus on the big picture and ask thought provoking questions has led us to many successful decisions.

Chris’ undergraduate study in finance and investments was at Valparaiso University, where he graduated cum laude in 1987. Chris graduated magna cum laude from The Detroit College of Law at Michigan State in 1994. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is a member of the American Society of Appraisers as an Accredited Senior Appraiser in Business Valuation.

Chris began his career in financial planning and became part of Arthur Andersen and Co.’s tax and financial planning group before attending law school in 1990. Since law school, Chris has focused exclusively on business valuations and intangible asset valuations rising to the position of Director at Standard & Poor’s Corporate Value Consulting. Chris has been affiliated with Godfrey Hammel, Danneels & Co. as a Director in the consulting practice where he performed a wide range of financial consulting services for transactions and other purposes.

His valuation experience encompasses a broad range of industries and has been performed for numerous purposes including taxation, reorganizations, purchase and sale advisement, and other accounting, tax and corporate related matters. Among the industries served are automotive, building products, computer consulting, construction, electrical manufacturing, equipment dealers, graphics and printing, health care, manufacturing, professional services, retailing, and wholesale distribution.

Chris has lectured and presented continuing education seminars on the subject of business valuation and merger acquisitions throughout Michigan and Ohio. He is an adjunct professor at Walsh College teaching the MBA class on business valuation. Chris’ background and experience in determining the value of hundreds of different companies provides real world insight into the value of companies that we consider for investment.
